Brexit

24th June, 2016

The nation turned out in record numbers to vote in yesterday's referendum.  The results are in and the country has made the decision to leave the EU.

The road ahead is one of uncertainty as we will be the first country to leave the EU since Greenland in 1985.  Their vote took place in 1982 so this is not a quick process!   It's going to take a long time to unravel and arrange an exit.

The pound and the stock markets have taken a plunge this morning. However, this short term dip has always been predicted by the Brexit campaign so we don’t think anyone should panic just yet.

The longer term impact on businesses is yet to be seen but we are a huge customer to Europe so deals will get done.

Whatever happens, as always, the Chamber pledges to be here to help and support you all along the way.
